Toast to the tipping point:

Two feet powder days.. all roads are closed.. best friends are with me to carve squiggly rows.

Or throwing the dock lines.. provisions on board.. a blue water crossing from shore to shore.. Speakers thumping.. sails pumping...

Or up in the Northwest where green meets blue sky.. I know so great vortexes and off road surprise..

But my favorite thing to do and see is unexpected smiles where ever to be.. so pour the Russian Vodka and uni fresh from the sea and toast to the tipping point of a green world to be...

"Technological change is like an axe in the hands of a pathological criminal." Albert Einstein

Loved "The Secret"  and even better was the way I received a copy. This very day before I had even considered watching the movie, I was captured by Larry King's nightly panel of forward thinking souls who never mentioned "The Secret". Hours later, I discovered these same speakers in "The Secret".

How cool they never mentioned the string that binds them. Most brilliant marketing I've appreciated in a long while. I wonder how many people the producers shared "The Secret" with to begin this silent tipping point? I wonder if they can track the virus back to one user?

About three months after I received "The Secret", my yoga teach mentioned it in class. She did not yet know what exactly "The Secret" was, so I told her, I had a copy in my back pack and she could have it.

What fun to pass along "The Secret". When the teacher is ready, the student appears.

"What the Caterpillar Calls the End of the World, the Master Calls a Butterfly"...Richard Bach. Illusions.

Welcome. This is my new web journal. Please feel free to email me any time with your thoughts.
You can page down to view pervious content from this page. Ketafilms.com has undergone a small face-lift with the help of Christopher. It consists of The New Studio with my photography and design work; movie previews, this journal and more.

I've been inspired to share my thoughts by musical genius Loren Bassnectar www.bassnectar.net.  He communicates his thoughts via email and I’ve enjoyed being a part of the community he has accumulated.

As a Scorpio, they say our nature is to be protective/mysterious. I have found this to be true. Which is why I'm excited to write my moments for anyone to read....

My whale sharks update: Recent global collaboration with independent shark researchers, filmmakers and biologist is helping to identify individual sharks. www.shepherdproject.org.

This strategy has allowed researchers to benefit from one another resulting in many new discoveries regarding shark behavior, their migration, mating, life span and much more.

Tracking devices and other shark monitoring equipment is pricey. In the past, it has been common that researchers and reports were not shared in the shark community, creating conflicting data and delayed learning curves.

As a collective we gain nothing if our personal pride drives our intensions. Sharks die, the oceans suffer and it is bad karma. With sharks and the world’s oceans, if we collaborate and work together, we will effect positive change.

My love affair with whale sharks began in 1998. Back then, only two papers from the 1940's were posted on the internet. There were no other references regarding whale sharks.

Multi-media and production has evolved drastically, making it accessible for filmmakers, photographers, researchers and scientists to create collective efforts in which to channel and publish new information.

Keta is working to create a network to fill these voids. The more people who understand the importance of sharks in our world, the more it can lead to the end of unnecessary killing out of fear or misunderstandings and help curb the abuse long enough to let shark numbers recover. 100,000 sharks are taken each year just for their fins. That is too many.

If you are marine Savvy, or in the "Industry" and want to contribute to our research efforts in Mexico this fall please email us with what you would like to contribute. We are looking for boats, camera operators, underwater specialists, biologists, research activists and a good DJ.

"I  enjoyed the article about Erin N. Calmes, most inspiring. With all the challenges involved in films which reflect
our deeper values and concerns, it is refreshing and empowering to read of
Ms. Calmes' success story in the Philippines."
IDA Magazine
